Partner Chris Williams of Cameron McKenna recently hosted a unique urban planning visit from the State Council of The People's Republic of China. The delegation of seven high ranking dignitaries approached Cameron McKenna because of the firm's expertise in major planning projects, including advising BAA Plc on the Heathrow Terminal 5 inquiry.
The delegation was from the Legislative Affairs Office of the Chinese State Council, and was in the UK as part of a European visit looking at city management and urban legislation.
The visit was organised by the Great Britain-China Centre. While in the UK, the delegation visited a number of high level people including the Head of the Planning Directorate for the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, and officials from the Government Office for London, the Association of London Government, and the Royal Town Planning Institute. Cameron McKenna was the only law firm the delegation requested to meet, to hear more about the firm's experience in the planning of large scale infrastructure projects.
Chris Williams commented, "It's an honour to have been asked to speak to the delegation, and very flattering to have our views and experience considered."
