UK: Offshore decommissioning guidelines

United Kingdom

Guidelines for the decommissioning of offshore installations and pipelines have been published for consultation by the Department of Trade and Industry, reflecting last year’s international agreement to ban sea disposal of oil and gas installations (OSPAR). The guidance notes set out the procedures and considerations to be taken into account in preparing decommissioning programmes and the consultation paper is intended to provide all interested parties with an opportunity to comment on the proposed approach to decommissioning of North Sea oil and gas facilities.
