Setting up a foreign owned enterprise in China

China

Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprises (WFOEs) are usually organised as limited liability companies set up in China and wholly owned by one or more foreign parties. WFOEs have an independent corporate personality and are responsible for their own profits and losses (in contrast to a representative office or branch office which is not an independent economic entity). WFOEs are an alternative to a sino-foreign joint venture.
