Czech Republic - residence permits no longer required for EU directors?

Czech Republic

EU and EEA nationals will no longer need to have a Czech residence permit to become registered signatories of a Czech company, if a proposed amendment to the Commercial Code takes effect.

The amendment, currently awaiting signature by the President, will remove the residency condition for registration in the commercial register as a corporate signatory (e.g. a director in a s.r.o. company or a board member in an a.s. company), thus significantly reducing the amount of bureaucracy involved in the registration process.

If signed by the President, the change is likely to take effect from either 1 December 2004 or 1 January 2005. We will keep you informed about the exact date and any other changes, as soon as they are definitely adopted.
