Czech Republic: financial markets regulators integrated

Czech Republic

As of 1 April 2006, four financial markets regulators have been integrated to a single regulator: the Czech National Bank. Previously:

  • banking was supervised by the Czech National Bank
  • capital markets were supervised by the Czech Securities Commission
  • insurance and pension additional insurance were supervised by the Office of State Supervision for Insurance and Pension Additional Insurance and
  • co-operative savings unions were supervised by the Office for Supervision of Co-operative Savings Unions

These roles have all been assumed by the Czech National Bank while the other three regulators have ceased to exist.
