The tracker: status of Public Bills before the UK Parliament - November 2006

The tracker is a guide to the progress of Bills going through Parliament that affect commercial organisations. It is designed for people who have a role of spotting "horizon-risk" for their company. This month it features the proposed bills in The Queen's Speech on 15 November. The enactment of SI's since the last issue is also included.

Key points to note this month:

  • Climate Change Bill - to require companies to cut CO2 emissions by 60% by 2050
  • Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Bill - has been carried over from the last Parliamentary session
  • Exchanges and Clearing Houses Bill - to give the FSA power to prevent regulatory changes. A bill to avoid more regulation!
  • Planning system - proposals to consider reforming the planning system, that may affect infrastructure projects and energy sector
