Health and Safety Executive publishes Violence Toolkit

United Kingdom

On 1 October 2008, the HSE launched its free online “violence toolkit”, which aims to help employers in retail, licensed and other premises to tackle the problem of work-related violence. The HSE defines work-related violence as any incident in which a person is abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances relating to their work. This can include verbal abuse or threats as well as physical attacks. The “toolkit” includes some good practical examples, control measures to reduce the risks of violence, and advice on support to be provided following a violent incident.
