Ukraine: proposed electronic registration for companies

Measures to simplify the procedure for registering companies have been approved by the Government.

These include plans for state authorities to establish a system of electronic company registration by:

  • developing the necessary legislative changes by 1 October 2009
  • creating a centre for certifying electronic keys and signatures under the auspices of the State Company Information Resource Centre
  • simplifying the procedure for opening bank accounts
  • establishing that the only valid certificate of a company’s registration will be an extract from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities and Individuals-Private Entrepreneurs

Establishing an efficient electronic registration system should certainly reduce the length and cost of company registration in Ukraine. However, detailed proposals for developing the necessary technical facilities are unlikely to be developed until after the legislative framework is in place.
