The Bribery Act's first year

United Kingdom

The Bribery Act came into force just over a year ago, amid much fanfare and media speculation. Some said it went too far and would stifle business, others said it did not go far enough. But what effect has it really had so far?

In our latest publication, we examine the impact of the Bribery Act on attitudes, culture and behaviour as well as its effect on the prosecution landscape, before offering our thoughts on what may happen in the coming years. Although there has been only one prosecution under the Act to date, this is far from the whole story and it is only in the next few years that we will begin to see how the Act is used by prosecutors to combat bribery.
