Slovakia: changes in the process for converting agricultural land

Slovakia

From 1 April 2013, there are changes in the process for converting agricultural land.

These changes will make it easier to build on agricultural land within the borders of a built-up municipal area. Investors will only require an opinion from a circuit land authority, and not a land conversion permit, to build on 5000 m2 of such land, instead of the current 500 m2.

A land conversion permit will also not be needed to construct a garden house or vineyard house unless its built-up area exceeds 25 m2.

In addition, the deadline for executing construction plans stated in a land conversion permit will be shortened from 5 to 3 years.
