Anti-Bribery & Corruption issues in Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) event - 5 March

On Wednesday 5 March, CMS will team up with CEE Consulting Group to bring you a practical seminar focused on Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) issues in the Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) region.

The event will feature an expert panel who will discuss a broad range of topics that will be of particular interest to in-house legal and compliance teams, but also those in internal audit and other related functions. The seminar will be packed full of recent case studies from a range of industry sectors including IT, construction, lifesciences and many more. The international elements of the cases will be a particular feature.

The panel discussion will cover:

  • recent developments and practical guidance with regards to dealing with ABC issues
  • the scope of professional privilege and the likely areas of conflict
  • how to co-operate effectively internally on reported cases of fraud and corruption and externally with the CEE country authorities
  • jurisdictional issues in simultaneously handled ABC cases, enforcement of final and binding criminal judgments and/or resolutions between various countries
  • civil consequences of ABC cases for companies.

The panellists will include leading disputes partners Arkadiusz Korzeniewski from CMS Warsaw and Zsolt Okanyi from CMS Budapest and also Preston Smith and Paddy Beiner, both Managing Directors at CEE Consulting Group, a leading CEE investigations company that works alongside legal teams to verify compliance with international anti-corruption legislation and investigate suspicions of bribery or malpractice.
