Emerging Europe M&A Report 2019/2020

Europe

We are delighted to announce that the latest edition of the CMS and EMIS ‘Emerging Europe M&A Report’ is now available.

The report offers a high-level analysis of M&A activity in emerging Europe in 2019 and looks at trends and investment activity across key sectors and markets.

In 2019, cross-border investment increased by 14.6%, which is a testament to the region remaining a magnet for foreign investors. The character of the region’s markets seems to be shifting - real estate was again the busiest sector but, for the first time, IT and telecoms came as the second busiest sector ahead of manufacturing. Despite a small decrease in overall deal count (down 6.5% year-on-year), private equity activity has continued to increase and is now involved in more than 16% of all transactions.

The ninth annual edition of our report gives an overview of the top foreign investor locations and sectors with the highest M&A activity by deal count and value. It also includes a series of insights and interviews with some of the key market players and CMS partners, who comment on transactional trends in emerging Europe and discuss projections on the direction of M&A trends in the future.
