EU Directive 2019/1152 on transparent and predictable working conditions in the European Union

EU

Current status of the implementation by member states

The adoption of EU Directive 2019/1152 on transparent and predictable working conditions in the European Union extends the obligations of employers to provide information on the essential aspects of their relationship with employees. Its aim is to create more transparency and predictability for working conditions and to improve them overall.

Implementation of the relevant requirements into national law is due by 31 July 2022. Judging by the overview we have created, this may not be difficult to achieve for some jurisdictions since their national labour laws already effectively address the related issues. But this is not case for all member states. In some jurisdictions, the implementation of the Directive will involve significant changes. This may explain why the adoption of the Directive varies from country to country.

CMS Employment Group has compiled an overview of the adoption dates and key information and links on the Directive. You can find it here. This information will be updated on an ongoing basis depending on developments. We hope you will find it useful!
