ECB has published its response to the EC’s targeted consultation on the application of the market risk prudential framework.

The European Parliament has announced that it has adopted the proposed Regulation amending the Benchmarks Regulation.

The CP sets out PRA’s proposals for the deletion of SS20/15 on the grounds that: (i) expectations set out in SS20/15 are no longer consistent with the regulator’s broader policy approach; (ii) the SS presents a potential level-playing field issue as it imposes prescriptive expectations on building societies that banks are not subject to, and (iii) risk management in the building societies sector has become more sophisticated since the SS was introduced, and PRA has a number of requirements and tools against which it can supervise firms’ risk management.  Responses are required by 8 August 2025.

Further to FCA’s 2022 Alternatives Supervisory Strategy in which it outlined plans to focus on smaller firms to identify business models posing greater consumer harm risks, FCA has now published feedback on its findings from that work and provides examples of good practice, focusing on high risk investments, conflicts of interest and the Consumer Duty.

FCA has appointed David Geale as permanent executive director for payments and digital finance, and MD of PSR.  He will play a key role in the work to consolidate PSR into FCA.  He will also be responsible for supervising payments and cryptoasset firms under the recently announced regime.

This report provides statistics on sanctioning activities carried out in 2024 by ECB and the national competent authorities of EU Member States participating in the SSM in relation to breaches of prudential requirements.  In 2024. the number of proceedings conducted by competent authorities increased by 19% compared with the previous year, and the number of penalties imposed rose by 8%.

This BIS working paper looks at trends and drivers of cross-border flows of the two major native cryptoassets and the two major asset-backed stablecoins between 184 countries from 2017 to 2024.

The EC has adopted: (i) a Delegated Regulation amending Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/930 as regards fees relating to the supervision by ESMA of consolidated tape providers and (ii) a Delegated Regulation amending Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/803 as regards rules of procedure for the exercise of the power to impose fines or periodic penalty payments by ESMA with respect to consolidated tape providers.

EBA has published its updated final draft implementing technical standards) on resolution planning reporting.  The standards will repeal Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/1624, with a view to making the technical standards more user-friendly for institutions.
