Changes to the EU Public Procurement Thresholds from January 2012

Scotland

The European Commission has published the Sterling (£) equivalents of the new EU thresholds. The new thresholds will apply to all new procurement from 1 January 2012. The changes reflect variations between Euro and Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) over the last two years, SDRs being the unit of account used under the WTO Government Procurement Agreement to which the thresholds are aligned. A similar conversion is then made to take account for changes between Euro and Sterling over the same period. The revised thresholds are higher in Euro, but due to the weakness of Sterling over the last two years the UK thresholds have risen by a proportionately greater amount.
